BIBLE Terms Heresy

- Info:

- Heresy means a controversial belief, especially in a religion, that conflicts with established dogma.

- Word Heresy comes from a Greek word which means choice.

- Heretic is a person who commits heresy, who beliefs in such controversial beliefs.

- In the early days of Christianity, Christians who believed only in Gospels of New Testament considered themselves as

orthodox Christians, correct believers.

- They considered other Christians of that time, known as Gnostics who also believed in other Gospels, as heretics.

- The main difference between these two sects was that Gnostics didn't take orders from Rome.

For this reason Vatican eventually created Islam to wipe out Gnostics from North Africa.
